Privacy policy
Durak Card Game (durakcardgame.com) is a free card game. We collect as little as we can, we don’t show ads, we don’t use tracking cookies, and we never sell or share your data for marketing. Last updated 20 October 2026.
The short version
- You can play against the computer without an account. Your settings and progress stay in your own browser.
- To play online, the game makes you a guest account with just a player name. An email and password are optional, so you can sign in on other devices.
- Our visitor statistics are anonymous. There are no cookies, and the id changes every day.
- You can delete your account at any time in the game, under Profile → Delete my account.
Who we are
Durak Card Game is run by the team behind durakcardgame.com (“we”, “us”). For anything about your data, use Contact in the game’s menu and choose General feedback. Add an email address if you’d like an answer.
What we collect and why
Playing against the computer
Nothing leaves your device apart from the anonymous statistics described below. Your settings, tutorial progress and game history are kept in your browser’s local storage. If you are signed in, your progress and game results are also saved to your account, so they follow you to other devices.
Your account
- Player name and avatar. Other players see these at the table, in chat and in the Hall of Fame. If you upload a photo, we shrink it to a 256-pixel square and re-save it. This strips hidden details such as location and camera data. We don’t keep the original.
- Email and password (optional). These let you sign in on other devices. Your password is stored only as a secure one-way hash. We don’t send newsletters or marketing email.
- Game results, rating and rank. These are used for your statistics, the Hall of Fame and matchmaking. Your rank, points and games played appear in the Hall of Fame, which also shows your country’s flag.
- IP address and country. We store the IP address you last played from, and the country it belongs to. Our network provider, Cloudflare, works out the country. We use these to keep the game fair, for example so one person can’t gain rating by playing against themselves. We also use them to stop abuse and to show your country flag. Other players never see your IP address or email.
Online tables and chat
To run an online game, the server keeps the table: who is seated, the cards and the moves. Table chat is shown to everyone at the table. Whispers are shown only to the person you whisper to.
Chat goes through an automatic filter that blocks links, contact details and abusive language. Players who keep breaking the rules can be muted or banned. To deal with abuse reports, we keep a log of chat messages for 30 days and then delete it.
Contact form and player reports
Messages you send with Contact are emailed to us and stored so we can deal with them. With your message we receive:
- your email, if you add one;
- your player name and account details;
- your country, IP address, device type and browser, and how many games you’ve played.
If you report a player, we also receive their name and account details so we can look into it.
Anonymous statistics
To see how the site is used, a small script records each visit. It records:
- the page you opened, and the website that linked to it (the website name only);
- your device type, browser, screen size and language;
- your country.
When you play, it also records the game type and how the round ended.
To count visitors, your IP address and browser are scrambled together with a random key that is replaced every day. The result can’t be turned back into your IP address, and it can’t link your visits from one day to the next. We don’t store your IP address with these statistics, and we don’t use cookies for them.
Cookies and local storage
The game doesn’t set any cookies of its own for players. It uses your browser’s local storage to work properly. That storage holds:
- your sign-in key;
- your settings, progress and game history;
- the news you’ve read;
- players you’ve muted;
- the players you’ve recently met (for the report form);
- a random id used to count how many people are online.
You can clear all of this at any time in your browser settings. If you do, you’ll be signed out.
Our network provider, Cloudflare, may set its own strictly necessary cookies. It uses them to protect the site from attacks and automated traffic.
Who else handles your data
- Cloudflare delivers and protects the website, so your requests pass through its network (Cloudflare’s privacy policy).
- Our hosting provider runs the server and database where game data is kept.
- Email: contact form messages are delivered to our mailbox.
We don’t use advertising networks, social media trackers or outside analytics companies. Fonts and images all come from our own server. We only hand data to others if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Your account and game results: until you delete your account. Detailed move-by-move game records are emptied after 90 days; only the result stays.
- Chat log: 30 days. Messages shown at an online table disappear about 6 hours after the table closes.
- Sign-in sessions: until you sign out, or until they expire after 90 days (registered accounts) or a year (guests).
- Server access logs: these record IP addresses for security and are kept for about 4 weeks.
- Contact messages and reports: as long as we need them to handle the matter.
- Anonymous statistics: these can’t identify you, so they may be kept.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account in the game, under Profile → Delete my account. This removes your account and avatar. It also removes your progress, game results, rating history and chat log. Messages you sent us through Contact are kept, so we can finish dealing with any reports.
- Change your name, avatar or email in Profile at any time.
- Ask us through Contact for a copy of your data, a correction or a deletion. We’ll answer within one month. Depending on where you live, for example in the EU or UK, you also have the right to object, to restrict how we use your data, and to complain to your data protection authority.
We process account and game data to provide the game you asked for. We process safety, anti-cheating and statistics data because we have a legitimate interest in running a fair, working game.
Children
Durak Card Game is a family-friendly card game with no gambling and no purchases. Children under 13 should only use online play and chat with a parent’s permission. If you think a child has given us personal information without that, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Security
The site only works over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are stored as one-way hashes, sign-in keys are stored only in scrambled form, and access to the server and its data is restricted.
Changes
If we change this policy we’ll update the date at the top of this page. For important changes we’ll also post a notice in the game’s News.
